Erik Jorgensen Acting Locally While Thinking Globally
20 Causes in 20 Days - Pass It Forward
There’s a movement gaining momentum everyday and it’s global! It’s about mentoring, inspiring, and empowering one another to realize we can all make a positive difference; simply by passing on kind acts and good deeds.
Erik Jorgensen working for 20 different causes in 20 days has exploded into a social media phenomenon online, including Facebook pages, Twitter posts and Jorgensen's own blog. "I wanted to reach a lot of different causes to inspire a lot of people to get involved with something they're passionate about," Jorgensen said. Starting with Thanksgiving dinner deliveries on Nov. 26, Jorgensen criss-crossed the valley, donating his time to a different cause each day.
During his efforts, Jorgensen sang karaoke for seniors in Carmichael, raised AIDS awareness on World AIDS Day, fed the hungry in Placerville, delivered holiday toys to sick Sacramento children and even joined the fight against diabetes. At his 20causes20days.com web site, Jorgensen blogged about his experiences, then used the social networks of Facebook and Twitter to spread the word. "I wanted to provide an example that it doesn't take that much to get out and really make a difference and give back in something that we're passionate about," Jorgensen said.
And his work did not go unnoticed. Along with building up a following of more than 400 on Twitter and Facebook, Jorgensen's exploits have drawn accolades across the cyberworld, from a writeup on the Huffington Post Web site to a Twitter shoutout from actress Alyssa Milano.
The Pass it Forward (PIF) Movement will help you learn your purpose, organize your passion, volunteer your gift and engage your heart. After 30 minutes online with an online mentor(www.30minutementor.org), you will be able to help others and L.O.V.E. it Forward too.
Every person that has created their own program promoting helping others may highlight their program on this website just like we have for Erik Jorgensen. Now you too can create your own PIF program based upon your "gift" or a specific "Pass it Forward Moment that happened in your past." For more information, go to www.neighborhoodlink.com and set up your free web page.
The Pass It Forward Movement embraces all religions, and political beliefs. If it doesn’t appeal to 100% of the population then it is not part of this movement.
PIF and networks with people and organizations that also want to help others.
Additionally PIF gives everyone the opportunity to mentor themselves and have online mentors to help them achieve their goals. For more information go to www.30minutementor.org.
Every entity, non-profit, business, school, organization, and individual can be part of this movement. Together, we can all unite and collaborate as just one voice to “pass it forward” and make the world a gentler, kinder place.
