Passing It Forward 4 the Holidays
For the past 3 years Gracie and Anthony Lococo's immediate family members, along with 20 other families this year have been coming together in the spirit of the holidays and giving to others who are in greater need than they. Collectively, they have chosen from a variety of families, but they all have one thing in common - they can greatly benefit from anything that anyone can pass forward and are tremendously appreciative from our donations.
Help other like minded people get what they want
With Character And Compassion
There’s a movement gaining momentum everyday and it’s global! It’s about mentoring, inspiring, and empowering one another to realize we can all make a positive difference; simply by passing on kind acts and good deeds.
Our family has joined forces with hundreds of thousands of other people and organizations to pass forward acts of kindness as part of the Pass It Forward Movement. Now you too can create your own Pass it Forward nonprofit program based upon a specific "Pass it Forward Moment that happened in your past."
Our family is helping three families again this holiday season and we encourage others to create your own pass it forward program too. For information on how you can start your own program, please contact aunitedworld@gmail.com. When you become a volunteer for We, The World you too will be able to highlight your program on the www.aunitedworld.org website. The address to access our program is www.aunitedworld.org/3families.asp and now we are part of the Pass It Forward Movement.
The “The Pass it Forward Movement” embraces all creeds, religions, and political beliefs. If it doesn’t appeal to 100% of the population then it is not part of the movement.
Every entity, non-profit, business, school, organization, and individual can be part of this movement. Together, we can all unite and collaborate as just one voice to “pass it forward” and make the world a gentler, kinder place.
The Basic Concept: Take a look at the 100 Ways To Pass It Forward for Teens - Pick one way (in your heart) and your volunteer mentor will help you find 99 other like minded people or organizations to do the rest. The "A United World" website will provide all of the tools necessary to implement your idea so you can make a difference in this world! As an example see 100 Mentoring Sources, 131 Mentoring Ideas, and 366 Community Service Ideas.
Our Program: One family we are sponsoring is the Rivas-Gudiel family. The family members who live together are: (Jonathan is 4, Danilo is 6, Erik is 7, Saudy is 11, Daisy 15, Mirna 18, Mom and Grandma) There are 8 family members living in a 1 bedroom home in Logan Heights. The three boys share a queen size bed and the three girls share another queen size bed. Mom and grandma sleep in the living room on the pullout bed. Their father lived with them up until 2 years ago when he began to be abusive to the mother and has since been asked to leave. Dad was the only source of income so they were left with nothing. This past year the mom was diagnosed with cancer of the stomach and has been through chemotherapy and has been unable to work. As you can imagine, this family will benefit from any donations you can give.
Jonathan is 4 years old. He is a size 5T and a size 9 kids in shoes. Danilo is 6 and is a size 6 in clothes and 10 in shoes. Erik is 7 years old and is a size 7 in clothes and 13 in shoes. Another family we are helping is the Resendiz family. We sponsored them last year and have seen the need is still there. They also live in Logan Heights in a one bedroom house. The mom has been raising the 3 girls on her own for the past 5 years. She left her husband when he became abusive. The oldest daughter confided in her teacher and Gracie’s school gave her money to rent an apartment for a few months until she got back on her feet. Although she has managed to get a job at Souplantation, they are still struggling. The three girls share a bed and mom use to sleep on the couch until last year when we gave them a sofa bed for her to sleep on. Jennifer is in 2nd grade. She is a size 7-8 in clothes and a size 13 1/2 in shoes. She is into anything Hannah Montana or Disney. Jazmine is in 5th grade. She is a size 14-16 in shirts, 16 or 5 in pants and a size 13 ½ in shoes. She loves High School Musical. Celeste is in 8th grade. She is a size Large, 7 in pants and a size 7 ½ in shoes. Mom (Angelica) is a size petite large. They can also use blankets, sheets, pillows, towels, kitchen utensils, pots or pans and appliances, bathroom toiletries, canned food or gift cards to the grocery store or gas cards.
