Character Program

Help other like minded people get what they want
With Character And Compassion
There’s a movement gaining momentum everyday and it’s global! It’s about mentoring, inspiring, and empowering one another to realize we can all make a positive difference; simply by passing on kind acts and good deeds.
Students at Pierce Elementary School are "flying high toward good character" and it's making a difference, said fourth-grader Brooke Grueninger.  "There is no more fighting or yelling at the school," Brooke said. "And everyone gets treated the way they should get treated."
Introduced more than three years ago, the character education program was initiated by Hamilton City School District officials to teach and stress the importance of acceptance, responsibility, honesty, respect and compassion.  This week, through Friday, April 3, students are participating in Character Week with activities created around character traits, and they are being challenged to make character a part of their daily lives.
Students at Pierce created kites decorated with character traits and their meanings:
"Honesty is telling the truth," said fourth-grader Abby Brown.
"Personal responsibility is taking care of the stuff you made," said classmate Danielle Knipp.
"Compassion is helping people," said Malachi Burchette. "Like they get hurt and you want to help so they are comfortable."
"Respect," according to Dylan Frazier, "is treating people like they are your friends."
"Acceptance is when you accept people for who they are, not what they have or what they look like," said Josh Wright.
Character education is not just for students, "it's cross generational," said Rebekah Dixon, who teaches art at the school. "As we develop our character we become good role models to help students develop theirs."
Through one of the programs initiated at the school — Random Acts of Kindness Week — staffers brought in coffee or baked goods or graded papers for their co-workers — along with other acts of kindness, said Dixon, who has taught at Pierce for five years.
"Character education is making a difference," she said. "Students are more aware that the decisions they are making have more of a long-term effect on others and themselves.
"And students and staff are more comfortable being themselves because we are all working to accept each other as we are."

Every person will be able to highlight their program on the A United World Website www.aunitedworld.org just as the students at Pierce Elementary School have. Now you too can create your own Pass it Forward program based upon a specific "Pass it Forward Moment that happened in your past."

The “
The Pass it Forward Movement” embraces all creeds, religions, and political beliefs. If it doesn’t appeal to 100% of the population then it is not part of the movement.
Every entity, non-profit, business, school, organization, and individual can be part of this movement. Together, we can all unite and collaborate as just one voice to “pass it forward” and make the world a gentler, kinder place.
Please explore our website www.aunitedworld.org to learn more, and “Pass It Forward!”  If you are a school or nonprofit organization and would like more information please send your inquiry to aunitedworld@gmail.com.
All people interested in creating and organizing your own Pass It Forward program please contact arlan@wetheworld.org.

The Basic Concept:  Take a look at the 100 Ways To Pass It Forward for Teens - Pick one way (in your heart) and your volunteer mentor will help you find 99 other like minded people or organizations to do the rest.  The "A United World" website will provide all of the tools necessary to implement your idea so you can make a difference in this world!  As an example see 100 Mentoring Sources, 131 Mentoring Ideas, and 366 Community Service Ideas.
