Akim's Mentoring Program
Help other like minded people get what they want
With Character And Compassion
There’s a movement gaining momentum everyday and it’s global! It’s about mentoring, inspiring, and empowering one another to realize we can all make a positive difference; simply by passing on random acts of kindness.
The Pass it Forward (PIF) Movement helped me find my purpose, so that I could develop my passion and bring my PIF program to the world. After being online for 30 minutes with my mentor(www.30minutementor.org), I am now able to help others too. There is no charge for my services as I am a volunteer mentor representing the PIF movement. Together we can make a difference!
Even though I am only a 6th grader, I have always felt that I can help make a positive difference in another person's life but I just didn't know how to go about it. Then, I saw this note posted on the bulletin board at my school claiming that I could mentor a younger student in an area that I felt that I could be of benefit. This one area happened to be soccer.
The ad on the buletin board said that I can do exactly what I want to be doing, when I want to be doing it, under my own terms and conditions. However, I must follow two circumstances. 1) I must abide by all six pillars of character; 2) My program must be great for everyone involved.
I then went door to door to earn enough money from my neighbors to earn the the right to be a mentor of a younger student. I raised $50.00 and received $45.00 back in the form of a grant from We, The World (WTW). After receiving the money I opened up a separate bank account because this $45.00 was to be used as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit program. Of the $45.00 I was allowed to keep $4.50 for myself, and the balance of $40.50 was to be used for my protege (mentee).
After that, I proceeded to place my own ad on the buletin board showing that I would mentor a 5th grader in soccer on Thursday afternoons after school from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
The first thing I did was buy a brand new soccer ball along with a PIF journal, book on soccer, accomplishment ribbons and certificates, etc. I even had money left over for a pizza party to celebrate my mentee's accomplishments.
Every person that has created their own PIF program may highlight their program on this website just like I have. Now you too can create your own PIF program based upon your "gift" or a specific PIF that happened in your past. For more information, go to www.aunitedworld.org.
The Pass It Forward Movement embraces all religions, and political beliefs. If it doesn’t appeal to 100% of the population then it is not part of the movement.
