Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) has been providing mentoring for children between the ages of 5 and 17. The model creates one-to-one relationships that focus on the individual needs of the child. Currently, 280,000 children worldwide enjoy being a part of the oldest and largest mentoring program in the world.
Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs are professionally managed and adhere to international Standards of Practice. A core aspect of the BBBS model is a professional case management approach. Educated and trained staff oversee the engagement of volunteers and the process of making matches. The staff continue to provide support to volunteers, children and families throughout the life of the match.
Attention to child safety is another hallmark of the BBBS model. All volunteers are vetted and trained, and all participants - child, volunteer and parent/guardian - receive child safety training.
