PASS IT FORWARD SCHOOL CLUBS

WHO WE ARE:
We the World is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Pass it Forward Movement. Our purpose is to express our love for life, for humanity, and for the world. Together we realize that we are all capable of making a difference in this world, and by mentoring one another to achieve this mission, we can make an impact much greater than individually.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
Start a Pass It Forward Club at your school. This club is open to all students, and is run by students. The only qualification is a desire to make the world a better place. This club is all inclusive and welcomes everyone!  It is not meant to replace existing clubs but to give every student an opportunity to get involved, who might not otherwise fit into other organizations.

Below are some steps that are a guide to starting and establishing your own Pass It Forward Club.  First check with your school counselor or appropriate staff member and present your ideas to forming a new club. Find out if there are any restrictions or requirements from the school before proceeding further. Once you have approval to start the club, follow these guidelines below. Remember, your school may have additional steps or recommendations as well.  If your school recognizes volunteer hours, be sure to ask about minimum requirements.

1. Register your school and club nameStart A Club

2. Steering Committee - Get some friends totether and form a Nominating Committee.

3. Develop your club^s mission and vision statementVision Plan. This will be your clubs^s purpose and plan on how to implement your program.  Check out 100 Ways to Pass it Forward.  See our Pass it Forward Tools and Do Something^s Resources

4. Membership and recruitment - This club is open to every student. Form a membership committee and create ways on how to get the word out. It could be flyers, school announcements, word or mouth, school website, etc.  Submit your project.

5. Calendar of Events. - at your first meeting you can discuss options to launching your program. WTW can help set up speakers from various non-profits to attend your meetings. You can also show the Pass it Forward movie trailer for more information on the movement. Then the members can decide for themselves, which non-profits, if any, the club would like to support.

6. Be Creative! There are no rules or requirements as to how to “Pass it Forward.” Your club is encouraged to create its own own vision, based upon your club members desires to help make the world a better place. It could be a simple fund-raising activity to support a non-profit of your choice, or a program to raise awareness for a cause. The choices are entirely up to your club.

7. Parent Organizations and Booster clubs - Once your club is launched, introduce your club to Parent Organizations, such as PTA’s or PTO’s as a way to get parents and other adults involved.

8. Funding your club - Expenses are zero to minimal at most. In some cases depending on the scope of projects taken on, there may be a need to apply for grants.  Let Do Something help you get funding!
