As the great King of Pop, Michael Jackson, once said, "We are the world, we are the children, and we are the one’s who make a brighter day, so let’s start giving." Although Michael was not involved, he would have supported the Pass It Forward (PIF) Movement.
The wonderful concept about this movement is people are doing random acts of kindness for one another that do not involve money. PIF mentors may help people and organizations raise money for their cause, but they don't ask anyone to spend or give away any money. What we are asking for is just a little bit of a person's time.
Anybody can create their own project to change the world, however, in order to do so they must follow the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. This movement makes available volunteer mentors that will help a newcomer (protégé) find their purpose so that they can develop a passion and create their own PIF program.
The PIF Movement is sponsored by a nonprofit organization called We, The World (WTW) that forms networks of collaboration around the world. These networks provide many ways for people to help make a difference.
WTW was founded in 1998 to maximize social change on a global scale and create events to let people know of their existence. In September of 2004, they organized an event called, "
11 Days of Global Unity," which is now an annual event to promote peace with more than 700 associated events in over 60 countries of the world.
In 1981 the U.N. International Day of Peace was created to stop growing conflicts in various countries. Then on September 11th, 2001 it was made a national day to remember, however, the U.N. decided to
make the official Day of Peace on the 21st of September.
So now we celebrate these 11 days of peace by having concerts, festivals, and other activities worldwide. This event is mainly designed to inspire, inform and involve the public in visionary solutions. For more information, go to
