Its ALL Who You Know

Pass It Forward Heart Virtues Game
Your Heart Virtue

Greg Mooers

The Heart Virtues game is a not only a communication game, but a listening game.  It is very important that each of the players listen with the intent to be able to comment later.  During this game we ask that you are honest and sincere, and that your friends will truly give you their honest and sincere opinion of the way they felt before you spoke and after you spoke.  It is recommended that all players listen to the other speakers with curiosity and compassion, as if the other person was you.

How to play the Heart Virtues Game:

The facilitator (person that bought this game) will pick a card from one of the five categories.  Tell the other player/s at the table two things (1) Why you feel this virtue is important to you or not; (2) A story about yourself using this word in a sentence.

Players will take turns clockwise picking a category, a card and answering 2 questions.  For the Heart Virtues pilot program, we recommend the mentor and the mentee make their own heart virtue cards.

After each player has taken their turn, listening players will make two comments. The object of the game is to not just to agree, but to comment on; (1) The difference of what they heard now compared with what they thought before they played this game. (2) How is their value of this virtue different from yours?

It is important to understand that everyone has different (not wrong) values when it comes to their personal thoughts therefore judgment, negative evaluations, campaigning or ganging up loses points.
