Brian Williams has a dream of making the world a better place one act at a time. Brian is currently collaborating with individuals, groups, clubs, schools, businesses and nonprofit organizations to accomplish his goals. He has spoken to thousands of children and is seeking to unite the City of Los Angeles to feel the effects of random acts of kindness. Arlan Berglas, the Director of the Pass It Forward Movement (born and raised in Los Angeles) would like Los Angeles to lead the world during National Volunteer Week 2010 at "people helping people". The Pass It Forward Movement has proposed documenting 1 million acts of kindness performed by the Los Angeles Unified School Districts students to set a Guinnes World Record for kind acts performed by one city during this one week period. "We anticipate classrooms challenging classrooms, schools chalenging schools, and districts challenging districts," says Berglas..

There’s a movement gaining momentum everyday and it’s global! It’s about mentoring, inspiring, and empowering one another to realize we can all make a positive difference; simply by passing on kind acts and good deeds.
National Volunteer Week
Following tense discussions of budget shortfalls, the Board recognized the importance of 61.8 million American’s who volunteer annually, during National Volunteer Week on April 19 to April 26. LAUSD Board Member (District 3) Tamar Galatzan’s resolution focused on the importance of volunteerism and utilizing volunteers to increase the longevity of some services and programs that would have otherwise been affected by the District’s budget crisis. The “ The Pass it Forward Movement” embraces all creeds, religions, and political beliefs. If it doesn’t appeal to 100% of the population then it is not part of the movement.

One High Schools Challenge to Another
Think Kindness District 3 Proposal
Objective : To challenge 3 local elementary schools during the month of May to document a combined
total of 20,000 Acts of Kindness in a 15 Day period. If deemed successful by board members, principals,
teachers, and parents, the Think Kindness would like to bring the One Million A.O.K event into every
school within the LAUSD at no ‐charge. Guiness Book of World Records would create a new world record
if the LAUSD could document over 1,000,000 Acts of Kindness within a 30 Day Period!
About : The One Million A.O.K program opens up with a motivational speech by Brian Williams. Brian
educates children how “Kindness is the ultimate for of self ‐defense”. Through his unique speaking style
and content, Brian inspires students to cognitively seek out ways to make someone’s day brighter for
nothing in return. At the end of the speech Brian challenges the entire school to document over 5,000
Acts of Kindness in a 15 Day Period.
The school will receive a two week supply of A.O.K journals. Each journal holds 10 spots for children to
document their performed acts of kindness. Once a journal is filled out, the student can turn it into their
teacher for a brand new one. The school will also receive tracking thermometers, teacher packets,
morning announcement CD’s, posters, banners, and kindness awards. Half way through the event, Brian
will stop by and select classrooms to hear their Kindness stories.
This event is 100% sponsored by local businesses and comes at NO ‐COST to the school. It has been
endorsed by senate majority leader Harry Reid, Governor Jim Gibbons, Mayor Todd Cutler, Mayor Geno
Martini, in addition to several principals and parents. Brian has also received the Truman Peace Prize
from the President of the University of Nevada for the his success with changing the lives of thousands.
Details:
• Each school will need to assign an onsite teacher/staff to help collect journals and distribute
information to staff and parents prior to the event.
• Each school will need to allow Brian to have a 40 minute school assembly to kick off the One
Million A.O.K. challenge.
• Each school will be asked to play the 1:30 morning announcement before each school day.
