Be A Pass It Forward Mentor
Welcome to the Worlds Largest Mentoring (Acts of Kindness) Movement. Did you know that if you change the way you look at things – the things you look at change? Imagine helping another person get what they want and wanting nothing in return? What would that do for the person you are helping, and what would it do to you? This movement is growing exponentially! The Kindness Community wants to hear from you!
PIF and you are now networking with people and organizations that also want to help make the world a better place - (Its ALL Who You Know) Additionally PIF is giving every single person the opportunity to have a mentor and to be a mentor. For more information go to www.30minutementor.org. We are not asking anyone for any money, only a little bit of time to make this all probable. One by one individuals as well as businesses are creating their own PIF program. Once you have your own PIF program, we welcome you to access this website as if it were your own. Enter Chat Room
The Concept: Take a look at the 100 Ways To Pass It Forward for Teens - Pick one way (in your heart) and your volunteer mentor will help you find 99 other like minded people or organizations to do the rest. The "A United World" website will provide all of the tools necessary to implement your idea so you can make a difference in this world!
Find & Keep a Pass It Forward Mentor Relationship:
1. Mentors and protégés may want to consider looking for a like-minded person with shared interests — do your research to find out whom it would make sense for you to seek out.
2. The protégé may want to think about how they can be of benefit to their potential mentor, prior to contacting that person.
3. Be your own best salesperson and have specific goals you'd like the mentor to help you address. You want an older, wiser person to help you down a planned path.
4. Protégés will be more successful if they are aggressive enough to get a potential mentor to meet with you. You may want to suggest a lunch or some other kind of casual meeting.
5. The mentor and the protégé must trust one another for a relationship to continue — as well as continue to develop the friendship by keeping in touch. This relationship can be over the internet without ever meeting one another. In a successful duo, when the mentor puts his/her faith in the protégé and gives advice, the protégé will take that advice.
6. The "A United World" website is full of resources for the mentor to help their protege. The mentor will help the protege find other like-minded people to collaborate with and teach their protege how to do the same for others and pass it forward too.
PIF Mentor Responsibilities:
Step #1. Be an example for your protégé by being positive and always trying to help their need. Protégés learn best by watching and imitating those around them.
Step #2. Get your protégé into the habit of helping others right away. Ask your protégé to perform one act of kindness and report the results back to you.
Step #3. Refer your protégé to the unlimited resources on the Pass It Forward website www.aunitedworld.org/movement.asp. Impress upon your protege the importance of social responsibility and the idea that you can help those who are less fortunate than you.
Step #4. Find opportunities to talk to your protégé about what’s happening in the world. Discuss how you could help change things for the better, and explain that even a little bit of time or effort can make a big difference.
Step #5. Determine your protégé’s interests or talents and help create their own Pass It Forward program based upon their gift. Or, help your protégé find a volunteer organization or activity to participate in. For instance, if your protégé likes to cook, he or she can volunteer at a soup kitchen.
Step #6. Look for like-minded groups that promote giving so your protégé can be around peers who have similar goals and interests.
Step #7. The two of you together (mentor and protégé) can create a volunteer activity that both of you will be engaged while helping others help themselves and then pass it forward too.
Now you can create your own Pass it Forward nonprofit program based upon a specific "Pass it Forward Moment that happened in your past."
PIF Mentor's ask yourself these questions:
Will delegating an entire project create more motivation or less for your protege? _________________________________
Which areas of your PIF program could benefit by delegating entire blocks of responsibility? _________________________________
Are there any new projects that you could start (having to do with making the world a better place) if you delegated entire jobs? _________________________________
